Rugo said “scan looked great. All good news!” Note that a ct scan cannot show us comparative bone so she couldn’t tell me whether the hip tumors were gone. But importantly there are no new tumors and all cancer remains in the bone. And she did add that the bone looks more dense wHich “suggests healing”!!! Early days, but oh I’m grateful for a little uptick! As I’ve mentioned, I do feel there must be a change in my hip tumors which went from being painful to the touch to no pain at all. I’m still slow, but I can walk about 30 minutes with a cane now a few times a week which is night and day even from early January. Hopefully the platelets stay steady enough, and I can continue to charge ahead on the drug.
Some have asked when Birdseed will next perform. Unfortunately some members are traveling on apr 23rd so we will not play at the Give Breast Cancer the Boot on Apr 23rd. But we have some fun private shows for St Luke’s at the end of February and May get a chance at the Boom Boom room and the PU Club. Will let you know. In the meantime we are going to work on finishing Mason’s and my new songs, and we may well be on Spotify soon. Fun! A few more pics just because….
Given that the only thing I’m good for around the Super Bowl is eating unseemly amounts of Guac and cooking, I thought it was worth sharing my no brainier free form chili recipe. We discovered long ago that Trader Joe’s cornbread mix beats out anything homemade so that is a given too.
1lb ground buffalo, beef, or turkey, 1 onion, 1 each green and red pepper, 3 carrots, 2 cans black beans, 1 can kidney beans, 28oz can crushed tomatoes, 5Tbps chili powder, 1 tsp cumin
Heat up some beer (and consume the rest) and sauté a chopped onion for 5-8 mins until translucent. Add the chopped carrots and peppers for 8 minutes until softened. Meanwhile brown the meat in a frying pan on medium and break apart. Add the beans, meat, tomatoes, chili powder and cumin to the veggies and simmer for an hour or more. Easy peasy lemon squeezey as Bebe would say.
Thanks to all for your enduring and amazing support. It means the world and is making life very joyful. As a parting note here is a fresh magnolia in today’s light drizzle. Always a dose of happy in the grey.
